Sleeping Places

I have a blanket on the couch - a perfect sleeping place.
And sometimes when I’m cold, I put the blanket on my face.

I've got a radiator bed - it's lovely for a sleep.
It's high up from the floor; it’s warm and furry, soft and deep.
Then there's my little doughnut bed; it's in a quiet spot.
I sleep there if the humans have their TV loud a lot.

My daytime naps are in the chair that rocks - it must be mine,
as they put another blanket there so that I can recline!
I sleep on Mum as well sometimes. I do this just for her,
as she says she really likes it, though I never hear her purr.
You may well wonder why I need so many sleeping spots
when humans only have one bed. I know it seems a lot.

But cats can sleep for twenty hours of every twenty-four.
If I can manage it, I like to make it even more.
So one bed would be boring - I like to get around.
I move from bed to bed and sometimes doze off on the ground!

A cupboard would be cosy but the humans close the doors.
So at the very least, I like two beds, or three, or four.
It's hard work being feline – I hope you understand -
I need my rest, but stay awake for meal times, if I can.
I like to keep you company. I’ll curl up on your lap.
Just love me, stroke me, be there! While I … take a little nap.
